Ferenc Kumin serves as deputy state secretary in charge of international press relations at the Prime Minister’s Office. As part of his job, he publishes the A Blog About Hungary, in English, aimed at countering international criticism of the Orbán government and putting positive spin on the régime’s policies. Kumin was previously the director of the department of strategy and communications at the Office of the President of the Republic during the presidency of László Sólyom, from 2006-2010.
Grew up in Budapest, graduating from high school in 1993. Earned B.A. at the College of Commerce, Hospitality and Tourism in Budapest in 1998 and M.A. at the Budapest University of Economic Sciences and State Administration (now known as Budapest Corvinus University) in 2000. Engaged in post-graduate studies at the English-language Central European University in Budapest from 2000-2004.
Worked as lead political analyst at the pro-Fidesz Századvég Foundation from 2010-2012.
Turns 41 years old in 2015.
